Prior to your treatment, we strongly encourage you to read the Prolieve System Patient Education Brochure provided to you during your consultation.
The following steps are recommended to help you prepare for your treatment:
- Arrange for someone to drive you to and from your doctor's office for your treatment.
- Plan to arrive 1 hour prior to your scheduled treatment time.
- Wear comfortable clothing.
- Bring a book, magazines, or a headset with music to listen to during the procedure.
- You may consume clear liquids 4 hours prior to your procedure.
- Take any medications your doctor has prescribed for you. Your doctor may prescribe and antibiotic and medication to help you relax during the procedure.
- Follow any other instructions your doctor has provided.
- Please inform your physician and nursing staff if you have an implantable device (Pacemaker or Automatic Internal Defibrillator)as these are contraindications for the procedure.
- Prior to the procedure you will be asked to void.
- Plan to stay 15-30 minutes in the recovery area following the procedure. You will be asked to empty your bladder prior to discharge.
- Discontinue the following medications:
- Aspirin - 10 days prior
- Plavix - 7 days prior
- Coumadin - 5 days prior
